Dr Savoia is a lecturer in development economics at the Global Development Institute, University of Manchester. Interested in political economy, his research has looked at the determinants of governance and institutional performance, and how they impinge on development outcomes and policies. Dr Savoia has previously worked at the University of Exeter, the University of Reading and the University of Bath (where he received his Ph.D.).
